Because there is no agreed industry standard, we do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals.

7. Analytics

We use third-party analytics services (for example, third-party analytics providers) to understand traffic and reader behaviour. These services may collect pages visited, device and browser information, approximate location, traffic sources, time on page, and interactions with content. We use these insights to decide what content is useful to readers and how to improve the Services.

8. Advertising

We display advertisements from third-party ad networks and directly from advertisers. Our advertising partners may use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to display and measure ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and show ads that may be relevant to you.

Those partners may collect and use information under their own privacy policies, and we do not control their practices. Where available, you can use the privacy or opt-out choices offered by the relevant provider or your device or browser. You can also manage ads through your browser or device settings.

9. Third-Party Links and Embedded Content

If you subscribe to a newsletter, we collect your email address and any other information needed to provide it. We may send you news updates, newsletters, editorial content, and important service messages.

You can unsubscribe from newsletters and promotional emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us. We may still send non-promotional messages that are necessary to provide a service or to meet legal obligations.

12. How We Share Information

  • courts, regulators, law enforcement, and other authorities where required or permitted by law; and

  • other service providers working on our behalf.

We expect these providers to protect personal information under appropriate contractual, legal, and security requirements and to use it only for the services they provide to us, except that advertising and analytics partners may use data as described in their own policies.

If EM News is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy and applicable law.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian, or where otherwise permitted by law. If you believe a child has given us personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us, and we will review the matter and take appropriate action, including deleting the information.

19. International Data Transfers

Our hosting, analytics, advertising, and communications providers may process or store personal information outside Ghana. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure the information is protected in line with applicable data protection requirements, for example by using contractual safeguards or providers that offer an adequate level of protection.
