Cloudflare Outage Disrupts iGaming Platforms, Payments, and Major Online Services

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, Cloudflare experienced a major service disruption, marking its fourth significant outage of the year. The outage lasted approximately one hour and affected millions of users worldwide, including those accessing iGaming platforms, ChatGPT, X, Zoom, and Meta apps.

The incident also disrupted critical APIs, including those used by Paystack, temporarily preventing online operators and players from completing deposits, withdrawals, and other essential transactions. This demonstrated the wide-reaching impact of Cloudflare’s downtime on both financial and digital services.

Cloudflare acknowledged the disruption on its service status dashboard at 11:48 UTC, stating it was “aware of, and investigating an issue which potentially impacts multiple customers.” While the company confirmed that the main outage had been resolved, it warned that some users may still experience issues logging into or using the Cloudflare dashboard. Cloudflare assured users that it was actively working to fix remaining problems and monitoring for further disruptions.

This outage follows several other Cloudflare disruptions earlier in 2025. In March, a credential rotation error caused downtime exceeding one hour, resulting in full write failures and partial read failures in its R2 Gateway system. Later in June, a storage malfunction in the Workers KV system caused a two-hour service disruption, affecting additional Cloudflare services and some Google Cloud operations.

The repeated outages have raised concerns among operators, developers, and users, especially those relying on Cloudflare for website performance, security, and API reliability. For the iGaming industry, where milliseconds matter for transactions and gameplay, even short disruptions can result in significant financial and operational losses.

Cloudflare continues to assure clients that it is investigating root causes and implementing measures to prevent similar outages in the future. Meanwhile, affected users and platforms are advised to monitor Cloudflare’s status updates and report ongoing issues promptly.
